Histopathology laboratories diagnose diseases, particularly cancers, by examining the appearance of the cells in samples of tissue. Many UK histopathology laboratories use inflexible and antiquated cancer reporting software, but upgrading to a modern system can be very costly. Even relatively recently developed systems often lack the functionality required to report complex cases efficiently, visually manage workflow and support the use of customisable templates and proformas. Many packages are also unsuited for deployment across multiple sites.
FREE D PATH overcomes these difficulties. It is a flexible, cost-effective and secure cancer reporting solution hosted within the secure HSCN network. Its origins lie in the NHS Improvements Lean Histopathology Project and since 2011 it has been used to report over 200,000 cases, including many complex tumour cases requiring key data element capture.
FREE D PATH is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS environments and works well on Apple mobile devices as well as web browsers, PCs and Macs.
FREE D PATH was designed for histopathologists but has since been adapted and deployed in other areas of clinical medicine including Dermatology, Rheumatology, Facio-Maxillary Surgery and Haematology.
Free D Path and digital voice recognition: The software can be integrated with Dragon medical voice recognition software to allow "hands-free" dictation.
